Panevėžys says a firm "no" to pollution of the Nevėžis river

In Panevėžys, a city whose life is closely linked to the Nevėžis River, a major project on rainwater management took place between 2022 and 2023. Prior to this project, rainwater collected from the industrial part of Panevėžys, if not properly treated, would enter the Nevėžis River and could travel to the Baltic Sea, threatening the region's water quality.

The project involved the construction of a new, innovative treatment plant designed to efficiently remove pollutants, including petroleum products, sand, and other hard-to-sink materials. These plants are fully automated, allowing wastewater management professionals to monitor and regulate their performance in real time.

This development ensures that rainwater from the industrial part of Panevėžys is thoroughly treated before entering the Nevėžis River, significantly reducing the impact of pollutants on the river ecosystem.
