One of the biggest challenges facing growing cities is the ageing heat supply system. In the New Town district, some heat pipes have not been replaced since 1960. They were in poor condition, ranging from damaged waterproofing to loss of thermal insulation and corrosion.

Between 2021 and 2022, KRS implemented a heat network reconstruction project, which included the reconstruction of as many as 1 433 meters of insulated heat pipes. Achieving the main objective of the project - upgrading old heat networks and reducing heat losses - improved efficiency and reduced the likelihood of accidents.

This not only improved the quality of heat supply to the population, but also contributed to environmental sustainability by reducing negative environmental impacts.
